Welcome to the first installment of our concert series featuring Studio Ghibli’s enchanting, iconic movie soundtracks, by legendary composer Joe Hisaishi.
Let us take you on a symphonic journey through the magical world of Studio Ghibli. This musical tribute will guide you through new and familiar storyscapes, from the scheming monarchies in Howl’s Moving Castle to Spirited Away’s mystical spirit world. Come experience a live orchestra bring two of Hayao Miyazaki’s most beloved films to life—films that taught a generation how to be brave, how to hope, how to dream, and encouraged us all to never lose our youthful wonder.
To wrap up this Ghibli offering, we will perform a specially commissioned piece combining Hisaishi’s evocative scores from all 13 Studio Ghibli films.

We’re just as excited as you are to bring so many magical worlds to life through this one-of-a-kind musical tribute.
Similar themes: This show spotlights two of Studio Ghibli’s most well-loved films: Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle. Why did we choose to feature these two movies together? Apart from having memorable and beautiful soundtracks, they complement each other well thematically. At the centre of both narratives are unlikely heroes who must show courage and bravery in the face of adversity, and along the way, find themselves.
