For the Love of Music!

Having been away from the live performance stage for nearly a year has made us think - of our impetus as artists, of our ability to adapt to change, of our place in the future of the performing arts. How does an orchestra connect with an audience through a screen? Are we still able to create unique experiences that move people in a meaningful way? Will we make it through this juncture? Over the coming month, we will be reflecting on what drives us to make music, and to remain hopeful that we can get through this. But we really can’t do it alone – we need the support of the community and supporters like you. For the love of music, we want to go back on the stage and we want you to be there with us.

The dimming of the lights of a performance hall. The shuffling of the audience to assigned seats. The ordered cacophony of the orchestra tuning. The raising of the conductor’s baton.

Those are all familiar routines that, over the past year, have become fond memories that we yearn to recreate and relive. We miss the banter of rehearsals, the intimacy of live performance, the creation of fulfilment and connection. Regular attendees of artistic performances have had to forfeit traditions. Artists have had to find different ways to be creative.

Over the coming month, we will be looking back on our roots, the foundations on which we ground ourselves, and the motivations on which we draw as artists, to help shape how we move forward. We are hopeful to be back on the stage soon and we want to share what drives us to keep doing what we do – those sparks, those bursts of creative energy, those sources of hope and resiliency.

The pandemic has presented opportunities but just as many, if not more, challenges. For a small organization like ours, these have seeded doubt and worry about what the future holds. We are in our infancy – we are still attempting to establish ourselves and find our own way. We like to see how we can do things differently. But we don’t always know when to ask for help.

We are looking to you for support because we can’t do this alone. Nor do we want to be doing things alone. Now is the time to take proactive measures to ensure our long-term success. This fundraising campaign is a first step in assuring our financial stability and we hope that you dear patrons, supporters, friends, and family can help us achieve our goal.

When we’re able to gather and return to doing the things we all love, we want to be there. We want to be the outing you look forward to, we want to be the first orchestra that your child experiences, we want to be there making music and cultivating memories with you and for you. We want to share and rejoice in the love of music together.
